Making Bonial's culture more sustainable: meet our Green Team

Geschrieben von Tech Editor | 11/01/2022

When it comes to sustainability, how can we make sure that our company acts responsibly? In order to accomplish this, a group of employees passionate about this topic created the recently formed Green Team.

Even though the idea of creating a Green Team has been floating around for a while, the team was officially founded on the 11th of November 2021. As part of our mission, we hope to raise awareness of environmental issues, encourage people to talk about their ideas, and develop action plans. Rather than thinking of this topic as a team topic, we would like to make it an integral part of our company culture.

Digitalization and sustainability are central elements of retail, and Bonial's DNA has always prioritized them. As such, becoming a more sustainable company is a priority for our company. Our employees already strive to live a sustainable lifestyle in their private lives, so why not incorporate these values into our corporate lifestyle to make it more sustainable.

It has been a great response from the employees who are committed to being part of the team. They are from a wide range of departments: finance, design, IT, sales, or office management, for example. Our diverse group of individuals enables us to approach topics from multiple perspectives and find creative solutions to our goals. In fact, we have already managed to achieve CO2 neutrality with support from different teams. Additionally, it is important to acknowledge the support of the leaders in establishing the Green Team.

Despite the limitations of Covid19, we plan to start by holding regular workshops on sustainability for everyone in the company who is interested. It will help people understand what it means to be sustainable and how they can start with small steps to achieve big results. Additionally, we would like to improve the company's culture regarding better management of environmental resources, including food, waste management, processes, and providers.

We need to be the change we want to see to make a difference. For those who want to be more environmentally conscious but aren't sure where to start, I suggest looking at sustainability as a process. Try to live more sustainably step by step instead of trying to change everything at once. Don't let small setbacks discourage you. The best way to start is to inform yourself about the topic. A greener life is possible.
